BTW, the key pad for my old hall's security system was 1914. Not very secure, huh?
Aren't they all?! At least they didn't make it 1935 since they'd have to change it now.
a bizarre explosion at a church east of kansas city killed one man on saturday afternoon.
atf agents said the explosion at the jehovah's witness' kingdom hall on foggy bottom drive was intentionally set, and that the person who died appears to have committed suicide.
witnesses described large amounts of smoke pouring out of the building, which they said was just recently completed.

i might have had my first post-fade slip up.
due to a temporary job, i've found myself back in my hometown the last few weeks.
i was pumping gas this morning when i was approached by the presiding overseer of my old congregation (technically my current congregation since i never bothered to change my publisher card).
Sounds like the guy you talked to is just an ass. I think there are very few secrets in Jehovah's mighty chariot. They are too busy figuring out directions.
My brother-in-law from Bethel was visiting and he spoke of it openly. He knows we don't go to meetings at all. So there was no secret about it.

[to all those who followed the first eight chapters of my story, thank you.
it's very healing for me to write all this.
i had fooled myself that my story was done after chapter 8, but it really wasn't.
DP,
This is not just another chapter, but "a whole 'nother" act as well. As you stated in an earlier chapter, you have closed the book on your years of faith and opened your age of reasoning.
I hope you continue your memoirs. I'm enjoying your journey and look forward to learning how you arrived where you are now.
-- Not Feeling It
living in a big city more and more i notice that people are prone to explode in a confrontation.
you can't look at anyone more than a second because they'll think you have a problem with them.
you have to watch your tone when you speak because they'll think you're picking a fight.
Boy, these sure are trying times we live in. You know, that the Bible agrees with your assessment. May I share a scripture with you from this tract I'm leaving with your neighbors?
Woo hoo! Man, I was a terrible Witness. I couldn't sell magazines worth a darn. The only way I could get a study was if someone else was moving and gave them away.
On the otherhand, I'm not reponsible for brainwashing any JW noobs. If anything, people were probably put off by my incompetence.
Cool!
-- Not Preaching It
i don't know if it is me or if it is becauce i was taught so much false teachings growing up, or maybe that the watch tower publications are about a 10th grade level and when i read a thoughtful article i want to believe it.
but boy, television media seems to present the public with truths the same way the watchtower presents its truth.
with 10 minute sound bites, never getting to deep and really not explaining very well the history of some of the subjects.just a thought!
Dynomite would have been enough
Ha HA!

i say this because i have been helped so much by the many posts that represent the way i feel about the wtbts.
it is good to know that there are so many people that feel this way.
i am currently inactive and dont comment but do attend meetings for the sake of the family.. my wife is still in and i have a daughter and one on the way.
I used to live in the Jax area myself. There are a few on this board from there. Welcome!
Your thoughts and concerns are not unique. This is a great place to get perspective on how you feel.
== Not Feeling It
hi, this is my first post but ive been lurking around this discussion board for some time now.
my husband (the borg) occasionally posts and i had the pleasure of meeting some great people at the apostofest in covent garden, london last year arranged by bestie and sweetpea , hi to you both and hi to freetothink, mr majestic and everyone that was there hope youre all ok.. my story in a nutshell: raised a jw from birth, my whole family, expect one brother and sister (disfellowshipped) are still jws - basically i was raised in a family who were considered one of the pillars of the congregation, we all pioneered and did the whole witness thing, in fact one of my sisters is a missionary.
my whole jw world crumbled when i learnt about the jw/un connection and from that moment on there was no turning back.
sounds like you are no stranger to these parts. welcome!
....
I've been to covent garden while walking around. nice place. I'd love to visit london again. my wife and I love the history there.
as i was born in i have no experience of this...
when you were studying do you remember coming up against things you questioned?
did you ask your study conductor and what responses did you get?
Ditto, as a "pure-blood" i struggle to understand "new bloods"Same here, I always thought converts were "religious weirdos" lol
HAHA, mudblood JWs.
// Not really a Hairy Pothead fan.
